I will be attending the student led, ND Response, protest at Notre Dame on Sunday. Why? Because I am heart broken by the University's decision to give an Honorary Law degree to the most abortion promoting Head of State on the planet. This same man will appoint a radically pro-abortion justice to the Supreme Court in only a couple of weeks. This same man voted THREE TIMES in the Illinois State Senate to snuff out babies that had miraculously survived a late term abortion. While every Democrat in the country voted for the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, ring-a-ding kid did not. He has used his first 100 days to fund abortions overseas, fund abortions here at home, and fund medical experiments on human embryos. The has threatened to pass the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), which will get rid of all the hard fought restrictions on abortion, including partial birth abortion. The president is horrified by the torture techniques used on three Islamic terrorists in 2002 and has made a big deal out of it. Apparently, he believes our country should not do this to mass murderers. However, the president thinks it is perfectly acceptable to suck the brains out of babies with Down Syndrome. He will also rescind on the Conscience Clause, which protects Catholic hospitals and health care workers from performing abortions.
All of this shows a complete lack of conscience by the President. Is it any wonder? His Christian conscience was formed by Jeremiah Wright.
I pray for the President. However, it is important that as Catholics, we preserve our identity. We will never create a Culture of Life if Catholics are not willing to witness to it.
Please watch this video. It is a non-partisan talk that William McGurn (Wall Street Journal reporter and former Bush speechwriter)gave at Notre Dame in April. He says it all.
