Queen Elizabeth's eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, 29, 10th in line to the British throne, is set to marry a Roman Catholic from Canada, Autumn Kelly, 31. The only problem is the 1701 Act of Settlement, which bars monarchs and heirs from becoming or marrying Catholics. It is unbelievable that the ban on catholics marrying heirs to the British throne still exists. A member of the Royal Family can marry a Hindu or a Muslim, or a person of any other faith for that matter...except a Roman Catholic. It is particularly noteworthy, considering that Catholics now outnumber Anglicans in England. It is time for the archaic law to go.
